Celebrating the incredible work of our students at the 2026 Student Showcases!
From CSUEB to SJSU, our Data Science and Statistics students presented innovative research tackling real-world problems. Ranging from LLM-driven book genre classification and sentiment analysis to sports MVP valuation and global housing affordability.
A huge congratulations to Shruti Gajre, Shrushi Hakkrekoppa Chandrappa, Jennifer Mac, and Joseph Germano for representing our department with excellence, and a special thank you to faculty mentors Dr. Eric A. Suess and Dr. Jiyoun Myung for their guidance and support.

3rd Annual DataFest
The Department of Statistics & Data Science, in partnership with the American Statistical Association (ASA), hosted its 3rd Annual DataFest with more than 45 students from across ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and Skyline College.
Students teamed up to analyze a complex dataset, uncover insights, and put their data wrangling, statistical analysis, and visualization skills to the test.
