Reminder—Existing Resources to Support Immigrant, Undocumented, International Students & Employees

Dear campus community,

As you may already be aware from local news in the last days, there is a planned deployment of federal immigration officers designated for actions in San Francisco as early as today. The federal immigration officers will be stationed here in the East Bay in Alameda at the Coast Guard facility. At the time of writing this message, there are no indications of plans to deploy federal immigration officers here on our campus or in our local East Bay community. We are monitoring should the situation change.

Out of an abundance of caution and care, we are sending this message to remind our campus community of the existing laws, supportive resources and protocols that have been available on our ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ website:

Resources for Undocumented, International and Immigrant Students and Employees

This page provides essential resources and support for students and employees who are undocumented, immigrant, or international. Here, you’ll find information on rights and protections, campus protocol for federal officers on campus, legal assistance, and campus services to help support your academic and professional journey.

As of last month, SB 98 signed into California State law last directs ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and all CSU campuses to notify their students and employees if there are confirmed federal immigration actions on our campus. We are prepared should that need arise.

Please remember that one of the most harmful unintended consequences of spreading false alarms through social media is the impact on the psychological health of our campus and local communities. Our campus protocol states that if you see something suspicious, please contact our University Police Department at non-emergency 510-885-3791 or 911 for emergencies. You may also call the President’s Office during business hours at 510-885-3877.

In closing, we want to thank all of you for being supportive of each other and especially of our students.

Sincerely,

Cathy A. Sandeen
